Steve Nunno teaches camp!

On May 21st and 22nd, the Cumming Gymsations hosted a two-day gymnastics training camp that featured Olympian Coach Steve Nunno. Nunno, who trained under such legends as Bela Karolyi, has been at the forefront of the U.S. gymnastics community for over two decades, and was the former owner of the famous Dynamo gymnastics club in the Oklahoma City area and former Oklahoma University women's gymnastics head coach.

Nunno came to Cumming, GA by request of friend, Coach Paul Daniel. Daniel, who worked and trained as a coach under Nunno, is one of the head coaches for the Gymsations. This competitive season, the Gymsations captured three state titles; AAU Level 4 Experienced, AAU Level 5, and USA Prep-Optionals Platinum.

Nunno maintains a lengthy resume of outstanding accomplishments, including "Coach of the Year" by USA Gymnastics in 1992, was honored as "Coach of the Year" in 1992, 1993 and 1996, the only three-time recipient of the award, and ranked eighth in a list of the greatest Oklahoma coaches in all sports of the 20th century. However, Nunno is most notably recognized for his world-famous Olympic athlete, Shannon Miller.

Shannon Miller is the most decorated gymnast in the United States by winning more World and Olympic medals than any other gymnast in history. She has garnered seven Olympic medals in her career, including two gold medals in the Atlanta Olympic games (1996), two silver and three bronze in the Barcelona Olympic games (1992), plus a host of World Championship medals.
