Cumming Gymsations Represent Georgia at Region 8 Gymnastics Competitions

After tremendous team and individual appearances at the USAG state
level, the Cumming Gymsations represented the state of Georgiatink at
regional competitions throughout the Southeast. By qualifying at
their state meets, Gymsations sent three gymnastics members to
participate on the women's Georgia Region 8 Team for USA
Prep-Optionals Platinum, one member to participate in the women's USA
Level 8 individual competition, and three members to participate in
the men's Georgia Region 8 Team for USA Level 5.
After
capturing the State Championship for USA Prep-Optional Platinum,
three Gymsations team members were invited to be part of the Region 8
Team, in addition to an alternate; Elena Campfield, Alexa Davis,
Donna-Kaye Price, and Raye Ganas (alternate). The other three
team-members were from Roswell Gymnastics Center. The team of six
members represented Team Georgia against five other states: North
Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. The
Region 8 Prep-Op Regional Championship were held in Concord, NC where
Team Georgia came in 2nd with a combined score of 148.50 while North
Carolina captured 1st with a 151.425.

Keller represented the Gymsations individually at the Region 8 Level
7/8 Championship in Tupelo, MS.

At
the Men's USA Level 5 State Championships, where the Gymsations took
3rd Place, the Gymsations earned the rights to three of the six spots
on the Georgia Region 8 Team roster; Peter Campfield, Chase Hintz,
and Alex Kincaid. The Men's Region 8 Level 5 to Level 10
Championships were held in Chattanooga, TN., where Team Georgia
competed against five other states; Florida, Tennessee, North
Carolina, Alabama, and South Carolina. Team Georgia came in 5th with
a combined score of 257.250 while Florida captured 1st with a
270.400.

Cumming Gymsations Teams takes First Place at State!
The Cumming Gymsations competitive gymnastics team, which is part of the
Cumming Recreation and Parks Department sports program, went to the
Amateur Athletics Union (AAU) Level 4 and 5 State Gymnastics
Championships event in Duluth, GA during the weekend of March 12-14.
The Level 5 and Level 4-Experienced teams competed and took home their
respective first place trophies along with many 1st place
finishes for age-grouped events. The Gymsations are not strangers to
state championships - last year, the Gymsations Level 2 team came away
with the first place title. Team placements are calculated by taking the
highest three scores from each apparatus (Vault, Bars, Beam, Floor) put
up by individuals on the team. These scores are then added to arrive at
a combined team total, which then determines the team placement.
Individual All-Around placement is determined by a combination of Level,
Age-Level, and summation of apparatus scores.
